I am so glad that the Ratepayers association is having a second look at this idea. We would like to know more details about what this amount of money will be used for. For those of us who are NOT opposed to the condominium project, could we also request money to argue our side of the controversey???? This is really tongue -in -cheek comment- but $10,000 on top of the original $1000 is a lot of money which could be used for other useful projects to benefit the Long Point residents instead. The developer had revised his plan significantly and seems to be attempting to appease the naysayers. Are you sure that an appeal is necessary, or have the opponents sort of stuck their heels in and won't even consider that all might not be so bad ? With more cottagers actually here now that summer is here, the Long Point Ratepayers may find that there is more support for the condominium project than the few members that were around when CULP came into being. As I wrote before, I do not think that Long Point Ratepayers association should even be involved in the politics of this - they should be a neutral body representing everyone. JF
I did vote for it but was disappointed the motion was not part of the agenda and it should have been disclosed what has been donated to date from other cottage owners to support the payment of the lawyer. It may be suggested that more of the people that are having problems with decisions being made like this try harder to attend the meetings (the turn out was amazingly low considering the severity of the threat on the preservation of the Point. It should have been mentioned why we have the fund and it's possible uses. maybe we can use it to build a bridge for humans so we can cross the road safely when this and all the other planned condos are finished. There will be such density we will be at risk! SB

Suggest that the Long Point Parking Strategy document be updated from the Norfolk County website to the latest report PED 10-59. There are some additions. I was hoping your members would gain insight into the "genius's" at NC dreaming up this parking strategy and ignoring the domino effect. (LPRA and private interests comments received re additional garbage containers, etc.) "While the purpose of this report is to recommend a parking strategy, staff wish to advise Council that a program will be investigated and costed." Unbelievalbe!! K.

"THANK YOU RATEPAYERS ASSOCIATION...for the monetary support you have given to the CALP people who are trying to keep our L.P. from this type of development..We are not opposed to change but do not think mr. boucks idea of a 24 unit nightmare is good for the point..I feel my dues over the past many yrs. have been put to good use. Thanks." S.
"As members, we are please with the action of the board both in donating to this appeal process and in your willingness to circulate the letter and donation form and the willingness of the board to have a member speak to the appeal. Keep up the great work." K & J
"Dear Board of Directors
In receipt of your recent letter, I can't believe that you would O.K. $1000.00 of our money for a cause that only a few of the members have supported (you say that a majority of ratepayers are against this development- but only a third of us were even at the meeting for the vote). I think you might as well come out and say that you are against the development and that this organization which is supposed to support ALL of us is becoming VERY political. I thought the Long Point Ratepayers were for all of Long Point owners and to help us have a harmonious and beatiful relaxing place to enjoy.
We are in favour of Mr. Bouck's development - but, would never ask the Ratepayers to become involved in this controversy! I would like to see what our ratepayer mandate really is. I don't think this was the original intention. If people want to protest as far as the OMB- they should spend their own money- not ours! This has gone beyond ridiculous. I am tempted to throw in the towel on the Ratepayers association- but I think the potential is there for too much good work in other areas.
Please stop messing it up! Your fellow Long Point cottage owner." J.
"On behalf of my entire family, the youngest being a 6th generation Long Point resident, I would like to send sincere thanks for your donation to support the future of Long Point. THANKS!!!!" C.
Just a word of thanks for the $1000. donation submitted to CALP on behalf of Claudia Unterstab's OMB Appeal regarding the atPlay Adventures Application for a condominium at LP. My husband's family have been members of the LPRA "forever" and its nice to see the LPRA understanding the dilemna that both Claudia and CALP find themselves in. The donation from LPRA I believe supports the many ratepayers who took the time in October to attend the Special Meeting, and whereby the majority of ratepayers opposed this project. Glad to see you as an Organization have stood up. Look forward to the Annual General Meeting in June. It may be a good idea to put the AGM date on your website as I am sure their are a great number of people viewing your site presently." J.
"Just wanted to say that we really are glad to see that LPRA donated to the CALP fund as this is a very worthwhile cause and will really affect the future of Long Point in terms of preserving it for the future." B. & P.
"Thank you LPRA for your support of CALP by way of donation. As new members your actions demonstrate to us that the LPRA can be counted on to support resident concerns and therefore is deserving of our support!" T. & S.
