THE BENEFITS OF BECOMING A MEMBER OF THE LONG POINT RATEPAYERS' ASSOCIATION (L.P.R.A.)
POLITICAL REPRESENTATION
The L.P.R.A. regularly meets with staff and elected officials from all levels of government to protect and put forth the concerns of our members.
COTTAGE WATCH
Cottage Watch, the cornerstone program funded by L.P.R.A. is designed to detect suspicious activity throughout the year. Volunteers patrol on foot, by car, A.T.V., snowmobile and bicycle. Patrollers are readily identifiable by their distinctive red/white clothing and yellow flags on ATV's/snowmobiles. Incidents are immediately reported to the OPP for investigation. L.P.R.A. members immediately receive a call from the OPP notifying them of any problems. Non-L.P.R.A. property owners may not receive a call from the OPP for several days.
SPECIAL ISSUES
Over the past years the L.P.R.A. has been actively involved with the lakeshore planning issues, municipal assessments, lake levels and other specific issues affecting Long Point.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
L.P.R.A. holds special events and activities throughout the year such as our Annual General Meeting where issues of special interest to Long Pointers are presented and discussed. Social Events are held by the L.P.R.A. from time to time such as annual dances, family barbeques and golf tournaments.
REFUSE PROGRAM
The L.P.R.A. provides information and education on the proper methods of disposal of refuse. L.P.R.A. co-ordinates the activites with Norfolk County, Ministry of Natural Resources, Canada Wildlife Services and others.

The membership fee is $20.00 per year or $38.00 for two years. Membership Applications can be mailed or if you prefer to drop off to the membership secretary call 586-7349. Membership applications are also available or can be dropped off at The Old Cut Boat Livery at the end of Rogers Ave in Long Point.
